Amir Valle, born 1967 in Guantánamo, Cuba, has lived in Berlin since 2005. He is the author of approximately 30 prose works, which have been translated into several languages, primarily into German. He became internationally renowned, in part through his, in Europe highly successful, study on prostitution in Cuba (“Habana Babilonia”) as well as his crime series “El descenso a los infiernos“, which focuses on life on the edges of Havanna. Amir Valle has been awarded several prizes, his writing has been complimented by Augusto Roa Bastos, Gabriel García Márquez, Herta Müller and Mario Vargas Llosa, among others. He is the publisher of “OtroLunes. Revista Hispanoamericana de Cultura”.
