Turning Takoyaki, and also grilling generally
you have to be tending like the ripening without thinking
randomly flipping, but in the randomness
the gestures hit well and you\u2019re watching them too

and six and six never counting just viewing
and from inside at the same time as the TV
is running and the orders are running, the water
is running because Auntie is washing the next bundle
of onions. No care about success or optimizing technique
the less you care the better you are \u2013 flipping teeth \u2013

If I find it, it makes me feel contented that it exists. I prefer, or believe it is wiser, to quietly pass by and elatedly move on, possibly with the cowboyish knowledge that I had my chance and quietly passed it by. (Now writing a text about it, typing loudly.) It’s so James Dean, no: so drinker-foolish, player-foolish to feel heroic\/tragic\/cool when spending your life’s value on the moment of deciding you don’t care. Just for the exquisiteness of the casino feeling, that in one moment you can ruin everything. It’s an unshareable sentiment, by the way. Possibly if you fit the cowboy scheme or the decadent rich boy scheme or the Proud African scheme, but not as a 37 year old girl in shorts. What people see when I am fully enjoying myself is a childlike adult with unreliable social skills hurrying past on an incomprehensible mission.
I very gingerly take care never to verify the hunch that it may have been the last chance.
That this life is past the last chance. That it is lived, from the beginning, in resignation and hopelessness. Maybe born in the wrong place. With the wrong gender, but this gender is always the wrong gender. Or, whatever gender I had got born with would probably have to serve as an excuse for my failing to live up to it. That butterfly feeling, of non-identification, yearning for freedom, basically, from the constraints of life preservation and social life, – just being confused and lazy and wanting to be touched and carried by swell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would be foolish to consider a home a place where someone like me could be. The purpose of a home is to exist and give me solace as a theoretical position, to know that such a position exists in the world, and that if I weren’t the way I am, I could go there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
