The Beach I<\/strong>

The baby sat

in stiff white ruffles of

cream, her brother in blue jeans ran in the sand.


No wind blew at Brzezno Beach.

The sea lapped

only in my imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Beach II<\/strong>

If you take the elevator often,

one day you will

Hang up your denim jacket for the last time.


My baby sat in meringue, becoming

A torte,

Seagulls pecked at her cream.

The bow balanced

fell, I fell too


Through the earth and all was a

oiled rag and din of metal


The birds ripped pieces out of my

Sentence

I told them to _____.


Now when the wind carries me

I drip milk on the beach.



The Beach III<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I dreamed dolphins on the horizon

and the thirsty plunge and suck of

a cooling wave


I dreamed black sand

speckled with salt, moss,

well-composed ancestors

I dream a hot arm

baking shoulders brown

No skin cancer

No lip balm

No crevasses


It all fell off me cleanly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I dream of jackknifing from a pine-ringed ledge

emerging a diamond

a buttery crayfish,


Pleasing someone else at lunch.

I appreciate the beads and the texture of weaves


Sing birds to the sky, and
