Anna Schapiro, was born in Moscow and grew up in the Hessian province. Today she lives in Berlin where she writes and creates visual works. She is a founding member and co-editor of the journal Jalta – Positionen zur Jüdischen Gegenwart and a member of the Ministry of Compassion and, since March 2020, sits on the advisory board of KunstNothilfe. She studied comprehensive artistic work at the HfKB Dresden with Prof. Ulrike Grossarth, and sculpture at the Universidade do Porto, Portugal. Afterwards, she took up the study of Jewish Studies at the European Institute for Jewish Studies in Stockholm. Anna Schapiro taught at the Muthesius Hochschule Kiel. Her works have been shown at the Kunsthaus Dresden, the Museum of Contemporary Art Wroclaw Museum, the Museum Vilha Velha, Vila Real, Portugal, the GFLK Halle Süd, Tölz and the Centrum Judaicum, Berlin, among others.
