Ekkehard Maaß

Ekkehard (Ekke) Maaß, born in 1951, studied theology and philosophy and was known in the GDR as a singer of Okudshawa songs. After the expatriation of Wolf Biermann, he organized readings in his apartment for young poets – contributing towards the promotion of an artist generation that abandoned socialist ideology 10 years before the end of the GDR and was known as the poet and artist scene from Berlin’s Prenzlberg.
