Irina Bondas was born in 1985 in Kiew, Ukraine, and has lived in Germany since 1992. She studied interpreting and political sciences in Leipzig and Edinburgh. After a period spent working and studying in New York, Edinburgh and Lviv, Bondas moved to Berlin and has worked there as an independent conference interpreter, author and translator of German, Russian, Ukrainian and English since 2008. Bondas publishes her written works in anthologies, magazines and newspapers. She won her first Poetry Slam at the age of 17. In 2005 she published the audio book of lyrics “was zum wachliegen” (something to stay awake).
