Tomer Gardi, born in the kibbutz Dan in Galiläa in 1974, studied literature and educational science in Tel Aviv and Berlin. He was the publisher of the magazine Sedek: A Journal on the Ongoing Nakba, a project of the Israeli-Jewish initiative Zochrot that aims at anchoring the displacement of the Palestinian people in the public memory and discourse. When Gardi read in ‘broken German’, completely forgoing grammar and spelling at Bachmannpreis event 2016, his text and its use of hybrid-language caused vehement discussions among the jury. In spring 2019 his new novel “Sonst kriegen Sie Ihr Geld zurück” will be published.
