STADTSPRACHEN Literary Opening

Pfefferberg Haus 13 (Schönhauser Allee 176, 10119 Berlin)

With the launch of STADTSPRACHEN, a spotlight is shone on the non-German-language literature of Berlin-based authors. The Welcoming address is held by this year’s Ingeborg Bachman laureate, the bilingual writer Sharon Dodua Otoo from Berlin (“I typically describe myself as a Black British mother, activist, author and editor…”). Then the grandmaster of Serbo-Croatian literature Bora Ćosić will take the floor with a multilingual reading. The Hungarian poet Kinga Tóth will conclude the night with a presumably unforgettable Poetry performance.

Authors Julia Kissina and Martin Jankowski will guide the audience through the program. Music by Thandi & Samira feat. Florian Hegemann.

This unique literary opening offers you a first insight into the upcoming panorama of performances, readings, discussions, workshops, and symposiums; the variety of formats will bloom throughout the German capital in the next ten days. Discover with us the well-known international literary stars and literature’s dark horses, some of whom will be presented along with their very first German translation.

Admission: 5/3 €
