As if they were playing a classical chamber concert, the five poets take turns reading their own poems or translating one another’s verses – using their compositions to play a lyrical concert. Merging and without pause, four suites are generated in varying languages from these poems and make the borders and the hierarchy between original and translation dissipate. The performance manages without commentator. In a leaflet, printed like a traditional program brochure, the audience can reread the original poems and their various translations. In this lyric concert poetry becomes the tangible expression of a joint cultural activity evolving from common ground and exchange, from commingling and progression. Like any concert, this performance demands intensive practice and the coordination of its individual pieces with their topics of arrival, integration and encounter, of aberration and restart in a large multilingual city.
