Alexander Delphinov (*1971 in Moscow, real name Smirnov) is a writer, poet, journalist and spoken word artist. Co-founder of the platform PANDA (Berlin, 2009). Winner of the international Poetry SLAM! Revue in Berlin (2007) and the Slamfestival in Jerusalem (2016). Finalist of the EU Poetry Slam Championship in Maribor (2020). More than 15 poetry collections in Russian. Poems and texts have been translated into German, English, Spanish, French, Greek, Georgian and Hebrew. In 2023 his prose collection Der verborgene Fluss (The Hidden River) was published by Tweeback Verlag, translated by Heinrich Siemens, and in 2024 his poetry collection Smirnovs Ausnahmefall (Smirnovs Exceptional Case) was published by hochroth Berlin Verlag, translated by Irina Bondas, Alexandra Berlina and Georg Witte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he has taken a pro-Ukrainian stance. Some of his poems have been published in the anthologies “Disbelief: 100 Russian Anti-War Poems” (2023) and “Dislocation. An Anthology of Poetic Response to Russia’s War in Ukraine” (2024). In 2022-2025 he took part in theatrical readings of Arthur Solomonov’s plays in Prague and Berlin, the proceeds of which were donated to Ukraine.
