He was a member of the\u00a0section of young authors of the Writers&#8217; association in Latvia and published his first work in 1986; in addition, he worked for the Russian editorial staff of the Latvian State Radio and led Jazz bands. After graduating from the University of\u00a0Riga, the\u00a0Franz-Liszt-Musikhochschule in Weimar and the\u00a0Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena he worked as an\u00a0editor for the international literary, culturological\u00a0publication series\u00a0<em>VIA REGIA<\/em> in Erfurt as well as the\u00a0journal\u00a0<em>Ru.Baschka<\/em>, a Russian\u00a0illustrated magazine\u00a0in Berlin. Later he was a columnist of the\u00a0Berlin journal\u00a0<em>7+7ja<\/em> and a guest lecturer at the Europe University Viadrina (Frankfurt\/Oder). Dragilew conceptualized and\u00a0moderated the reading series\u00a0<em>EXiLIBRIS<\/em>\u00a0and <em>Radio Akzent<\/em>, the first FM-Weekly magazine in Russian\u00a0(Erfurt) in\u00a0Th\u00fcringen, the performance series\u00a0<em>Art-Salon<\/em>\u00a0and the Eddie Rosner jazz festival (Berlin), and he was one of the co-initiators of the\u00a0Berlin literary group <em>SAPAD NAPERJOD<\/em>. He regularly performs as an artist, composer and arranger, and is the head of several,\u00a0diverse musical projects (among others &#8220;The Swinging PartYsans\u201c und &#8220;Kapelle Strock\u201c). Apart from his poetry\u00a0Dragilew has published a\u00a0collection of essays concerning the history of the Russian tango and a biography of the jazz musician\u00a0Eddie Rosner. He has been published in literary journals and anthologies in\u00a0Latvia, Russia, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, USA, Canada and the Ukraine. Dragilew has been a member of the PEN center of writers in exile in German-speaking countries since 2005 and has been chairing the association of\u00a0Russian speaking authors in Germany since\u00a02015. For his poetry, that recalls the Russian traditions of the meta-realistic school, Dragilew gained the literary award of the Moscow\u00a0Journal\u00a0<em>Deti Ra<\/em>\u00a0and the special award of\u00a0the\u00a0IV. official Russian poetry slam in Berlin (both in\u00a02006).<\/p>\n<p class=\"bibliography\">Zum Tee um f\u00fcnf.
