Gundula Schiffer, born in Bergisch Gladbach in 1980, is a poet and translator living in Cologne. She writes poetry in German and Hebrew and translates herself into German. She studied comparative literature and Hebrew language and literature in Munich and Jerusalem. After completing her doctorate on the poetry of the Psalms (Beredtheit der Form, 2010), she completed the D\u00fcsseldorf Master’s degree in Literary Translation (French and English).
\nTogether with Adrian Kasnitz, she published the anthology “Was es bedeuten soll. New Hebrew Poetry in Germany”(parasitenpresse 2019). On her own initiative, she edited and translated the online anthology “F\u00fcr Euch. Texte israelischer Schriftsteller:innen nach dem 7. Oktober” (Signaturen-Magazin, three episodes: 12.2.24, 26.2.24, 11.3.24). In addition to the essay-translation biography “Wenn alles ber\u00fchrt about Tirza Atar”(edition karo 2019), she has published three volumes of poetry to date, including Gronau \/ Gauguin (Verlag Ralf Liebe 2022) and Hioba Hymore (Elif Verlag 2023). She has already received several awards for her literary work, most recently a working grant from the Kunststiftung NRW for the new book project Fremde Einkehr. Israel im Stickrahmen (published by Ralf Liebe in November 2024). She is a member of Weltleseb\u00fchne e.V. and the PEN Center Germany.<\/p>\n
