Oleksandra Bienert is a Ukrainian researcher and human rights activist born in Chernivtsi (Ukraine) in 1983 and living in Berlin since 2005. She studied Computer Science in Kyiv (Diploma), European Ethnology and Public History (M.A.) and Photography in Berlin. She is particularly interested in political participation and intercultural dialogue. She writes essays and analyses for the portals “Understanding Ukraine”, “Gender v detalyah”, “Ukraine Analyses” on the topics of women’s rights, politics, history as well as on German-Ukrainian relations, in which she is also strongly involved as a community activist. Mainly she has worked with topics critical examination of Nazi history, support of civil society, intercultural communication, urban development. In collaboration with other colleagues, she designed the map “Ukrainian Places in Berlin”. She is currently writing her doctoral dissertation on female intellectuals from Ukraine in Berlin in the 1920s, volunteers as chair of the board of the Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations, and strengthens participation of people with migration history as a full-time trainer for political education. Oleksandra Bienert was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin in 2022 for her long-standing commitment to German-Ukrainian relations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
