Wang Lan \u738b\u862d is a versatile artist whose creative focus is on painting and fashion design, and who also creates art forms such as light installations and film art. She hails from China’s Guizhou Province and is rooted in the Miao culture, an ethnic minority. She first studied traditional, classical Chinese ink painting at the Guizhou Provincial Nationalities Institute School of Art and the Shanghai Academy of Art. She has lived in Germany since the late 1990s and graduated from the Kassel Art Academy in 2003 with a degree in textile and fashion design. Wang Lan’s art has been presented in China and Germany in numerous group and solo exhibitions, e.g. 1993 solo exhibition at Kunsthalle Shanghai (in addition her illustrated book “A Collection of Artistic Works by Wang Lan”, Shanghai Books Publishing House in the same year); 2018 solo exhibition Kulturhaus – Galerie Karlshorst, Berlin; 2021 group exhibition “New Normal”, Kommunale Galerie Berlin Hohenzollerndamm.
