The central theme of her political and literary works is dehumanization and a new &#8220;Gesamtkunstbefreiung&#8221; from the brain cell up to her Asian diasporic body. She grew up in Germany as the child of Chinese immigrants, and studied at the University of Cambridge, UK and Columbia University in New York. She is the author of <em>Vulnerable Minds: The Neuropolitics of Divided Societies<\/em>\u00a0(Columbia Uni Press, 2022). She has lived\u00a0in the US, Finland, China and\u00a0Taiwan.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, Dr. Yu was an artist-in-residence at Taipei&#8217;s Treasure\u00a0Hill Artist Village, where she worked on her German novel\u00a0<em>Lotte in Beijing<\/em> and a feminist dance performance\u00a0project.\u00a0She is\u00a0currently a research fellow at the\u00a0Institute of Medical Psychology LMU and lives in Berlin. In the context of anti-Asian racism debates, Dr. Yu has been\u00a0described as one of the most influential intellectual voices in the Asian German diaspora. She was\u00a0nominated for the <em>Progressive Voices Award 2024<\/em> by Brand New Bundestag.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Liya Yu is a neuropolitical philosopher and writer.
