She\u00a0was born in Hanoi in 1974, one year before the end of the Vietnam War. Her childhood and youth were shaped by the post-war period, during which Vietnam slowly opened up economically and culturally to the world, which also influenced her later literary development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is considered one of Vietnam&#8217;s most important poetic voices in the post-war period. Her works have been included in numerous Vietnamese, English, and French poetry anthologies, including, for example. Selected Hue Poetry from 700 Years, The Defiant Muse \u2013 Vietnamese Feminist Poems from Antiquity to the Present, L&#8217;hexagone de Song Hong, Poetry International Magazine, Selected Vietnamese Poems 1975\u20132000, Vietnamese Love Poems of the 20th Century, Selected International and Vietnamese Blank Verses, Selected Verses<br>by Vietnamese Women Poets 1945\u20131995, and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D\u1ea1 Th\u1ea3o Ph\u01b0\u01a1ng was also a pioneer of contemporary performance poetry in Vietnam. She presented her works on major poetry stages both domestically and internationally, including the<br>Vietnam National Festival of Contemporary Poetry, L&#8217;Espace (Institut fran\u00e7ais de Hanoi), the British Council (Hanoi), and Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also explored the field of film and short documentary film. Her mini-doc Lady Piano has been shown at the following festivals, among others: Mini DOC Festival, Goethe-Institut, Hanoi, Vietnam (2011\u20132012); 3rd Southeast Asian Film Festival, Singapore Art Museum, Singapore (2013); \u201cIn Focus\u201d section at the YxineFF Film Festival, La Clef Cinema, Paris, France (2013); Contemporary Vietnamese Film, Art and Writing, Institut de Langues et Cultures Orientales &#038; Paris 7, Paris, France (2013); Eight Short Films by Female Directors, Goethe-Institut, Hanoi, Vietnam (2014).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between 1996 and 2008, she worked as a journalist and editor for some of Vietnam&#8217;s most respected literary and socio-political newspapers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 2008 to 2024, she continued her writing career as a freelance author, living in cities such as Tokyo, Paris, Hamburg, Berlin, and Nicosia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since August 2024, she has been based in Berlin as a freelance journalist.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>D\u1ea1 Th\u1ea3o Ph\u01b0\u01a1ng is a poet, writer and contemporary poetry\u00a0performer.
