She has been a contributing editor at<em> Kathimerini <\/em>in Greece and T<em>agesspiegel <\/em>in Berlin. Her stories have appeared in <em>Harvard Review<\/em>, <em>Guernica, PEN magazine, World Literature Today, WWB, Asymptote, The Guardian, Brooklyn Rail<\/em> among others.<br>She is a winner of the <em>Revmata Award<\/em> (1994), the <em>Diavazo Award<\/em> for her novel <em>Jantes<\/em> (1996) and the <em>Academy of Athens Prize<\/em> for her short story collection \u201cBright Day\u201d (2013). The American translation of her book <em>I\u2019d Like<\/em> won the <em>International Literature Prize<\/em> by NEA in the US (2008) and the <em>Liberis Liber Prize <\/em>of the Independent Catalan Publishers (2012). Her novels <em>Why I killed my best friend<\/em>, and <em>God&#8217;s Wife<\/em> were short-listed for the <em>ALTA National Translation Award<\/em> in the US (2014 and 2020 respectively). Her short story <em>Mesopotamia<\/em> was selected for <em>Best European Fiction 2018<\/em> (<em>Dalkey Archive<\/em>). Her stories and essays have been translated into more than twenty languages.<br>She had various literary grants from the DAAD and LCB in Berlin, the Shanghai Writers Association, Edward Albee Foundation, Ledig-Rowohlt, Bellagio Rockefeller Foundation etc. She was a fellow at the Iowa International Writers Program.<br>She lives in Athens, Greece where she teaches creative writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Published in German: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Warum ich meine beste Freundin t\u00f6tete<\/em>, Bahoe Books, Wien 2024.<br><br><em>Die Erben des Odysseus<\/em>.
