Franck-Lee Alli-Tis aka V Stylianidou (they\/them, he\/him) is a boyish flowerplant that grows in the rhizomatic fields of art, sound and writing. Franck-Lee studied visual Arts at the University of the Arts Berlin and Literature and Linguistics at the University of Ioannina (GR). They work\u00a0across a variety of media, including video, poetry, sound\/music, voice,
language, installation, and performance. Their artistic process involves a continuous renegotiation of public and private narratives, as well as the spaces in which they unfold.Their practice investigates systems of control and power\u2014such as language, architecture, the body, labor, family and gender. Franck-Lee is particularly interested in embodied ways of expanding language: challenging and subverting its hegemonic structures to propose new poetic paradigms for knowledge and experience. Their video and sound installations often incorporate experimental poetic texts that engage with queer-feminist theory and respond to elements drawn from current news and media. They explore the intersections between language, voice, body, and image as rhythm and materiality, drawing from spoken word traditions, as well as experimental and underground music and poetry movements that challenge dominant artistic canons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2019, Franck-Lee initiated and co-founded\u00a0WordMord<\/em>, an ongoing collective and transdisciplinary artistic research project. WordMord explores the complex entanglements of language, the body, and technology with trauma and violence\u2014but also with pleasure and sexuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Their work has been exhibited internationally at art spaces and institutions including nGbK, Berlin; Undercurrent.nyc in New York, Picklebar Slavs and Tatars Berlin; Verksmidjan in Hjalteyri, Iceland; Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond, Amsterdam; SMU Berlin; Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Karachi; Freiraum in der Box, Berlin; Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; Haus am Kleistpark, Berlin; quartier21\/MuseumsQuartier, Vienna; Fotohof, Salzburg; VCA Margaret Lawrence Gallery, Melbourne; Onassis Cultural Center, Athens; National Museum for Contemporary Art, Athens; State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki; Art in General, NYC. They received the NAF\u00d6G postgraduate scholarship from UdK Berlin and the NEUSTART KULTUR grant from Stiftung Kunstfonds. They have participated in artist-in-residence programs at Schloss Pl\u00fcschow in Germany and at K\u00fcnstlerinnenhaus B\u00fcchsenhausen in Austria. From 2018 to 2020 they co\/curated the feminist queer project Aphrodite<\/em> in Athens.
