She is a cross-disciplinary artist, stylist, and art director working at the intersections of collage, photography, video, performance-happenings, installation, writing, and experimental theatre. Her work draws from embodied practices, psycho-sensitive states, post-Soviet aesthetics, Japanese philosophies (<em>wabi-sabi, ma, ikebana<\/em>), and the mess of everyday life. It is guided by emotional urgency, poetic transformations, and a commitment to the raw and unresolved.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her background\u2014originally from Ukraine (born during the last years of the Soviet Union), having lived in England, and now based in Germany due to the Ukrainian-Russian war\u2014reflects a constant negotiation between belonging, loss, and adaptation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was the co-founder and lecturer at Kyiv Collage Practice, the first platform for contemporary collage art in Ukraine (2019\u20132021), which played a key role in popularising collage among emerging and established artists. She holds a BA in Contemporary Photography Practice and a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design from the University for the Creative Arts, UK, and has recently completed the Masterschool Software Engineering Program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>elis<\/em><\/strong>ELIS has exhibited and published her work internationally\u2014in Germany, Austria, the UK, Hungary, Ukraine, Poland, Spain, Russia, and the US\u2014and collaborated with artists, curators, dancers, musicians, researchers, and professionals from diverse disciplines. Her works are held in private collections across Europe and North America. She was awarded the Scholarship of the President of Ukraine (2022\u20132023) and directed two interdisciplinary performances at Lichthof Theatre, Hamburg (funded by ART Connects and U*act): <em>feel my goosebumps <\/em>(2023) and <em>#ukrwarbody <\/em>(2022), both addressing physicality, memory, and war through poetic, collaborative acts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is a long-term member of the artistic community of the Kyiv Institute of Automation, Nahirna 22 (since 2019). Her poem \u201c<em>earth or burn your bridges carefully\u201d <\/em>was used in a musical composition by Cixian Lu and performed as part of an opera in Minnesota, USA.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2023, she participated in the Yokohama Performing Arts Market (TPAM) in Japan, premiering the experimental theatre project <em>Tryptophylia<\/em>\u2014a collaborative performance work that delved into the memories of marginalized individuals through the motif of strings\u2014knitting, weaving, tying, and binding\u2014reimagining these gestures to defy their stereotypical roles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a poetess, miss <strong><em>e. <\/em><\/strong>looks for beauty in the absurd things in her surroundings \u2014 and then she kicks that beauty in the crotch. Her work explores porous borders between beauty and collapse, pain and myth, identity and intuition. She approaches the human body as both landscape and political site\u2014shaped by gender, trauma, desire, and history. Each project emerges through process, experimentation, and physical engagement, as well as through displacements, migrations, and mental states.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She uses collage logic not just as a technique but as a way of thinking\u2014layered, contrasting, and associative. <em>Visual philosophy <\/em>is how she defines her practice. When she creates ikebana while walking and observing natural materials found in urban environments, it becomes urban poetry\u2014a meditative act of reclaiming attention and intimacy with the overlooked.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through her evolving practice, <strong><em>elis<\/em><\/strong>ELIS remains committed to disrupting aesthetic norms, using the body as a site of research, and staging vulnerability as a method of resistance, healing, and connection. Her current project conceptualises an ikebana-based performance using found urban objects, natural materials, poetry, bodies, and augmented reality\u2014merging traditional Japanese aesthetics with post-industrial sensibilities.
