The poet Karima Shabrang, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Persian Language and Literature from the University of Kabul, has worked as a teacher of Persian literature, a teacher trainer for a nongovernmental organization, and a gender consultant for various organizations in Kabul, among other roles. Due to the open treatment of eroticism and female desire in her poems, she was persecuted and has been living in exile in Berlin since November 2022. Her residency with the DAAD\u2019s Berlin Artists-in-Residence Program was funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion as part of a partnership with ICORN (International Cities of Refuge Network). She has authored five poetry collections, which have been honored with various literary awards. The Afghan Voice Agency, the first media agency founded after the fall of the former Taliban regime, also released a documentary film about poetry directed by Karima Shabrang in 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
