Giorgos Panagis was born in December 1987 in Limassol (Cyprus). He studied Classical Philology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed a corresponding master\u2019s degree at Humboldt University of Berlin. His first book, The Myths, a collection of short stories (Gavriilidis Editions, Athens 2014), received the Cyprus State Literary Award for Emerging Writers in 2015. With his first short story collection, he represented Cyprus at the 18th Biennale of Young Artists, which took place in March 2017 in Tirana. The Myths was also translated into Serbian and published by the publishing house Tre\u0107i Trg. It was presented in October 2017 at the International Book Fair in Belgrade, as well as at the First Novel Festival in Budapest in 2018. In June 2021, at the University of Montpellier, graduate student Maria Adelfoulakou completed her master\u2019s thesis titled Negation and Reworking of the Homeric Myth: Nostos and Intertextuality in the Short Story \u201cThe Return of Odysseus\u201d by Giorgos Panayi, focusing on the first story of the collection The Myths. His first novel, Potemkin Village, was published in November 2023 by Topos Editions. It was shortlisted for the Cyprus State Novel Award in 2024 and was also nominated the same year for the Public Book
