He was born in London in 1966 and grew up in Nenagh, Ireland. He studied English and Philosophy at the University College Galway and was one of the founders and the lead singer of the band Toasted Heretic. In 2001 his debut novel \u201cJuno &#038; Juliet\u201d was published. In addition to his prose writing he writes columns for several noted newspapers and journals including <em>The Guardian, Prospect Magazine<\/em> and <em>A Public Space<\/em>. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigous <em>National Short Story Award<\/em> for his short story \u201cThe Orphan and the Mob\u201d. It is also the prologue to his novel \u201cJude in Ireland\u201d which was shortlisted for the <em>Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize<\/em> for comic fiction. His first poetry collection \u201cFree Sex Chocolate\u201d was published in 2010. It constrasts his new poetry with his older song lyrics. In 2011 he wrote the closing poem for the computer game Minecraft. Goughs novel \u201cJude in London\u201d was in third place for the <em>Not The Booker Prize<\/em> of <em>The Guardian<\/em> the same year. Julian Gough lives in Berlin. His children&#8217;s book \u201cRabbit\u2019s Bad Habits (Rabbit and Bear)\u201d was published in 2016.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bibliography\">Juno &#038; Juliet. Novel.
