She is an Afro-British poet and performer who lives in Berlin. Before dedicating her life to writing, Blades took singing lessons and was involved in the theater scene. Her literary works were published in <em>The Volume Magazine, Kaleidoscope Magazine, Trespass Magazine, Words with Jam, The Latin Heritage Foundation, Caribbean Writer, Thrice Magazine, Blackberry Magazine<\/em> and <em>Peepal Tree<\/em>. In 2012, she won the <em>Erbacce<\/em> prize and her first collection of poems \u201cBlood Orange\u201c was published\u00a0by the Erbacce publishing house. Blood, violence and death are only a few of the recurring themes in this volume. Her debut album \u201cWord Pulse\u201c appeared in 2013 with Havavision Record and can be purchased on iTunes and Amazon. In 2014 she won the <em>Caribbean Writer 2014 Flash Fiction Competition<\/em> and participated in the Black History Month at the Werkstatt der Kulturen. With her English poetry-performances accompanied by German translators, she has been successful within and outside of Berlin for many years. In her readings poetry, singing and optical projections are combined in order to create a strong and emotional overall impression.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bibliography\">Blood Orange. Novel.
