The cosmopolitan city of Berlin – a home of authors writing in all world languages. Many have made German their bridge language, others even use it deliberately as their new means of expression, without, however, abstaining completely from their mother tongue. Where can these authors be found?
\nOperation Tetra-Pack takes a closer look at four of these authors: Mar\u00eda Cecilia Barbetta, Dmitri Dragilew, Ricardo Domeneck and Kenan Khadaj. The strategy: In four citywide workshops the authors help translate texts from their original version in Spanish, Russian, Portugiuese or Arabic into German, in order to be accessible to a wider audience. The translators\u00a0Rike Bolte, Hendrik Jackson, Christiane Quandt and Leila Chammaa work together with the workshop participants who also consult the authors before presenting their result in German. The fruit of this work will appear, alongside the original texts, in an anthology \u2013 another illustration of Berlin’s multi-lingual dynamics. The crowning conclusion of this workshop will be an open reading celebrating this\u00a0multifaceted, polyphonic\u00a0Tetra-Pack publication!<\/p>\n

Translation Workshop Spanish<\/strong><\/p>\n

Operation Tetra-Pack invites the author Mar\u00eda Cecilia Barbetta to one of their four workshops. The Argentinian has called\u00a0Berlin her home for ages now and writes in German. Although her novel\u00a0“\u00c4nderungsschneiderei Los Milagros<\/a>” was an instant success in Germany, the translation of the book into Spanish fell through. As part of the Operation Tetra-Pack the author call out to any interested parties, to attempt to translate parts the novel into Spanish with her assistance. Hence the workshop is inversely related to the other Tetra-Pack events\u00a0which translate\u00a0from\u00a0Russian, Arabic and Portuguese into German,\u00a0\u00a0– and a fascinating Opportunity for all for adore\u00a0German and Spanish as languages of literature. Translator Rike Bolte assists the Operation. Prerequisites are\u00a0literature enthusiasm and\u00a0basic knowledge of Spanish.\u00a0Differentiating language levels of the participants will be actively made use of. Furthermore the novel should have been read. It can be borrowed from the\u00a0Pablo-Neruda library or bought\u00a0(signed by the author!).<\/p>\n
