The Corona year has changed our everyday lives and shifted the majority of literary life to the internet. This is where <em>stadtsprachen magazin<\/em>, which was founded four years ago, is at home. Several digital editions of our PARATAXE event series have made it possible for voices and texts not to fall silent, but to find a new and wider audience here in this form. We also used this year to develop a new, more technically sophisticated digital presentation form for our magazine, thanks to support from the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe &#8211; <em>stadtsprachen magazin<\/em> now has a high-performance, future-proof structure and can now be read effortlessly on tablets and cell phones while on the move, with the elegant design of our art director Joey Bahlsen and web graphic designer Carolin Riedel. The completely new programming comes from our longtime partner Jan Kossick and the editing has been done as always by Birger Hoyer and Joey Bahlsen with the support of Lea-Liane Winkler. Discovering the current literature of Berlin with its more than 100 languages and making it accessible is an almost endless task, in which something always remains unmentioned, unfinished, untranslated. But we try to pick up the special, formative or simply Berlin-typical voices, themes and styles with all their dynamic contrasts. We would therefore like to thank all our partners, advisors, sympathizers and translators for their numerous suggestions on authors and literature worth mentioning, of which there are more in this city than we will ever be able to present. And, of course, we thank the authors for their texts and submissions, for the enthusiasm with which we can create a freely accessible source of contemporary literature here with this purely digital magazine in multiple languages. We want to deepen and develop this project in the near future, but more about that in the next issues.<\/p>\n<p>Issue no. 16 is our first release on our new website and perhaps one of our most notable yet. We\u2019ve compiled some stellar Berlin writing including but not limited to brand-new translations of texts by Ian Orti, Dola Rosselet and Dilek Mayat\u00fcrk etc. as well as the four new texts, courtesy of our friends at the <em>Osteuropatage<\/em>, and their November translation workshop <em>Voices to be heard<\/em>, which cast a light on domestic violence, LGBT+ rights, and gender struggles during the COVID 19 pandemic.
