We have always compiled literature that asks questions. Which, in troubled times,\u00a0 asks questions of ourselves and our relationship to multilingualism, thus exposing the pulsating vein of contemporary writing in Berlin. We want to show the multiple threads, the emptiness and pain, and the underlying connections of multilingual writing. For Fall 2021 we have selected 23 fractal prose, poetry and music pieces by 29 different authors, translators and musicians in 9 different languages.<\/p>\n
The translators Til Bardoux, Alexander Booth, Lena Schmidt, Natalia Breiniger and Natalia Maximova give us an insight into the art of translation with their workshop reports for our project texthelden. From this year’s parataxe readings come the poems of Dilek Mayt\u00fcrk and Valentina Ramos de Jesus, as well as piano and vocals by Agn\u00e8s Guipont, recorded at our Francophone symposium “French ReConnection.” A special treat is the concert video we recorded in August at the Fraenkelufer Synagogue: In an almost unknown place, here we hear proof that Arabic and Hebrew music and poetry, often thought of as opposites, actually come from one and the same cultural root. With four current Polish texts through their German translation, we take a look into the contemporary literature of Berlin’s third largest language group (after German and Turkish) and at the same time also look ahead, to our upcoming German-Polish festival “UNRAST Berlin”, which will take place live at the Maschinenhaus from November 14 to 18, where these four authors Wojciech Tochman, Krzysztof Niewrz\u0119da, Ma\u0142gorzata Rejmer and Ewa Wanat, among others, will be presented.<\/p>\n
