Welcome to the 28th issue of our stadtsprachen magazine! In this summer issue, we celebrate the fascinating world of multilingualism in literature and have thus brought together texts from more than 20 languages to showcase the diversity and beauty of the global literary landscape of Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Literature has always had the ability to cross borders and connect cultures. At a time when the world is moving closer together, the importance of multilingualism is becoming ever more apparent. By reading and understanding texts in different languages, we open ourselves up to new perspectives and enrich our own cultural understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this issue, you will find a wide range of stories, poems and essays that reflect the different nuances and expressions of the world’s languages. From the melodic verses of Spanish to the pictorial narratives of Arabic and the minimalist – each language brings its own magic and uniqueness. We publish some of the contributions only in the original langauge, but a number of them are also available in German or English – and some of the current texts in many different languages, with one poem in this issue even appearing in more than twelve different languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this new issue we present 24 texts by 23 authors in 20 languages: Spanish, German, Yiddish, English, French, Arabic, Polish, Dutch, Hebrew, Lithuanian, Czech, Tamil, Slovenian, Russian, Portuguese, Georgian, Serbo-Croatian, Chinese, Italian, Turkish. Our aim is to introduce you not only to the beauty of the individual languages, but also to the universal themes and emotions that connect us all. Because despite the different words and sounds, the human experience remains the same – full of joy, sadness, love and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
