Snow<\/strong><\/p>\n

Walking through a field with my little brother Seth.<\/p>\n

I pointed to a place where kids had made angels in the snow.
\nFor some reason, I told him that a troop of angels
\nhad been shot and dissolved when they hit the ground.<\/p>\n

He asked who had shot them and I said a farmer.<\/p>\n

Then we were on the roof of the lake.
\nThe ice looked like a photograph of water.<\/p>\n

Why he asked. Why did he shoot them.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t know where I was going with this.<\/p>\n

They were on his property, I said.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When its snowing, the outdoors seem like a room.<\/p>\n

Today I traded hellos with my neighbor.
\nOur voices hung close in the new acoustics.
\nA room with the walls blasted to shreds and falling.<\/p>\n

We returned to our shoveling, working side by side in silence.<\/p>\n

But why were they on his property, he asked.<\/p>\n

Margaritas at the Mall<\/strong><\/p>\n

Drawn up all my findings and I warn you they are candid
\nMy every day begins with reminders I’ve been stranded
\nOn this planet where I’ve landed, ‘neath this gray-as-granite sky
\nA place I wake up blushin’ like I’m ashamed to be alive<\/p>\n

How long can a world go on under such a subtle God?
\nHow long can a world go on with no word from God?
\nSee the plod of the flawed individual looking for a nod from God
\nTrotting the sod of the visible with no new word from God<\/p>\n

We’re just drinkin’ margaritas at the mall
\nThat’s what this stuff adds up to after all
\nMagenta, orange, acid green
\nPeacock blue and mercury
\nDrinkin’ margaritas at the mall<\/p>\n

Standin’ in the shadows of the signposts on the road
\nFifty gates of understanding, forty-nine are closed
\nYes, I guess this time I really hit that number on the nose
\nWhat I’d give for an hour with a tower on the throne<\/p>\n

How long can a world go on under such a subtle God?
\nHow long can a world go on with no word from God?
\nSee the plod of the flawed individual looking for a nod from God
\nTrotting the sod of the visible with no new word from God<\/p>\n

We’re just drinkin’ margaritas at the mall
\nThis happy hour’s got us by the balls
\nMagenta, orange, acid green
\nPeacock blue and mercury
